Kaziranga National Park History
The Kaziranga Game Sanctuary was renamed as Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary in 1950 by P. D. Stacey. Later in 1954, the Assam Government passed the Rhinoceros Bill to penalize hunters. After the declaration of the national park, Kaziranga was soon declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1985, for its unparalleled natural environment. After this Kaziranga celebrated its 100 years in 2005. Today, Kaziranga is a World Heritage Site.
